APPS & DEVICES
Gaming application prototype targeting self hand therapy using the Myo armband and an arduino controlled custom-made robotic glove. Developed by Rastislav Lipovsky and Hugo Alexandre Ferreira
Game developed for the Museum of Universal Values, Mafra, which makes use of Oculus Rift and Leap Motion. By Filipe Sobreira Rodrigues, IBEB.
Game developed for the Museum of Universal Values, Mafra, which makes use of the Leap Motion controller. By Filipe Sobreira Rodrigues, IBEB.
BrainBIT, our own BCI with innovative assessment of the autonomous nervous system. Designed and made by Vânia Tavares, Joana Brito, Hugo Ferreira, and Hugo Silva (Plux). In the photo is Carlos Moreira at the Museum of Universal Values playing the "Compassion" game developed by Vânia Tavares and Joana Brito and co-programmed by Carlos and Inês Cruz. Great job team!
Power spectrum of hand grasping motor imagery. Data acquired using Emotiv Epoc BCI for targeting a hand motor rehabilitation application. By Rui Dinis Pinto and Hugo Alexandre Ferreira
Periodogram of hand grasping motor imagery. Data acquired using Emotiv Epoc BCI for targeting a hand motor rehabilitation application. By Rui Dinis Pinto and Hugo Alexandre Ferreira
Diffusion Kurtosis Imaging: implementation of the multi-compartment model for water diffusion based on (Jensen and Helpern, 2010) and considering and considering scalar diffusion coefficients (DC), i.e assuming isotropic diffusion, which is acceptable for short diffusion periods. Developed by David Naves Sousa, Rafael Neto Henriques, and Hugo Alexandre Ferreira
Diffusion Kurtosis Imaging: Monte-Carlo simulation of water diffusion. Developed by David Naves Sousa and Hugo Alexandre Ferreira.
Online platform for Monte-Carlo simulations of diffusion processes in biological tissues. An extension of David Naves Sousa prior work. Try it out!
United DKI toolbox. Developed by Rafael Neto Henriques, Hugo Alexandre Ferreira and Marta Correia. To be released soon!
Multimodal Imaging Brain Connectivity Analysis (MIBCA) toolbox. Developed by André Santos Ribeiro, Luís Miguel Lacerda and Hugo Alexandre Ferreira.
Brain Connectivity Leap: the Brain VR navigator using Leap Motion + Oculus Rift + Unity3D. Developed by Filipe Sobreira Rodrigues, Ricardo Ribeiro, Hugo Alexandre Ferreira
The adaptation of Brain Connectivity Leap to touch screen for the Museum of Universal Values. By Filipe Sobreira Rodrigues and Hugo Alexandre Ferreira.
An Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality application for visualising the brain! Developed by José Soeiro, Ana Paula Cláudio, Maria Beatriz Carmo, and Hugo Alexandre Ferreira
An application designed in Java that enables the anatomo-pathologist to guide the autopsy research with having the hassle to constantly removing his/her gloves. Interfacing with Leap motion for gesture control and voice recognition! Great app from César Rodrigues. Supervision José Luís Ferreira and Hugo Alexandre Ferreira.
A cleverly made button box for fMRI studies. Based on the DIY approach we used: a fiber optic bundle; a clothespin; a strong elastic rubber band; 4 lollipop sticks; other more flexible tubing; a LED; a LDR; an Arduino Uno and housing for the electronics. A Python application was developed to interface with Psychopy, a free stimulus presentation software. Brilliant work from André Amorim with support from André Santos Ribeiro and Hugo Alexandre Ferreira.
Before we knew Bitalino existed we developed the SensoryBox, a different solution with multimodal channels. Each channel gain, low-pass and high-pass filters could be adjusted in order to acquire different physiological signals including ECG, EMG, EOG, and EEG. It used Arduino MEGA ADK and connection Android smartphone. Pretty great! Developed by André Santos Ribeiro, Débora Salvado, Guiomar Evans, José Augusto, and Hugo Alexandre Ferreira.
This is COLI, an inspirational lightning product designed to modulate the emotional state via light and color, in particular for healthcare purposes. Beautifully designed and fabricated by Marta Ribeiro. Support from André Ribeiro and her supervisors João Nuno Pernão and Hugo Alexandre Ferreira. Master's in Product Design, Faculty of Architecture, University of Lisbon, 2013.
A single channel low-cost functional near infrared system designed and built by André Queirós. Supervision José Luís Ferreira and Hugo Alexandre Ferreira.
Mind-blowing device! Tricks your sense of touch: a completely smooth surface feels like velvet, denim or sand paper. Beautifully engineered by Fábio Nascimento (he's also a great singer, see "A Caixa"). Supervision by José Luís Ferreira and Hugo Alexandre Ferreira.
A display of some (but not all) protocols, apps and devices developed by my students and/or with my collaborators.
